Rather
I wanted to stay up all night
write letters, go out pick a fight
then run, laugh it off,
go home, drink tea in the cold morning light yeah
Truth is I've got to work tomorrow
I ain't got no time to borrow
and there's plenty to pay
so I can't really stay in this headspace
I wanted to walk and walk
pick flowers, maybe mushrooms too,
build a nice fire, lie down next to you
after you sleep I'll write into the deep starry night yeah
Truth is I've got to work tomorrow
I ain't got no time to borrow
and there's plenty to pay
so I can't really stay in this headspace
Truth is I feel so alone
when I get up for work just like a drone
why do we need and need and need
when there's so much more than needing to feed
or spread seed?
Last night I stayed up all night
forgot about the alarm clock, tick tock
got really high writing letters to you
thinking 'bout Greek Islands with a knapsack or two
we were climbing up a hillside picking herbs and flowers
playing backgammon to while away the hours
Truth is I've got to work tomorrow
I ain't got no time to borrow
and there's plenty to pay
so I can't really stay in this headspace
Truth is we've got to work tommorrow
We ain't got no time to borrow
and there's plenty to pay for,
please don't be sore
